Week 5 Learning Journal
Part 1: Support and Comment on Teammates’ Goals
Faith’s post:
After watching several capstone presentations, I came up with three possible project ideas. First, I’d like to develop a GPU-accelerated simulation tool for visualizing physics or environmental data in real time. Second, I’m interested in creating a deep learning model optimized for GPU use that enhances image or video processing. Lastly, I could build a benchmarking platform that compares GPU performance across different tasks using real-world datasets. Each project would strengthen my skills in both software development and GPU computing, aligning with my career goals.
This week I gained valuable insights by exploring my classmates’ goals and brainstorming capstone ideas. It helped me better define my own academic path and clarify what skills I need to strengthen, especially in GPU programming and systems architecture. Reviewing past capstone projects also gave me a clearer idea of what’s achievable and inspiring. I’ve started thinking more seriously about internships with companies like NVIDIA or AMD, as hands-on experience with GPU oriented roles would strongly align with my interests and long-term career goals in high-performance computing.
